Following Mezco's run with Family Guy, Playmates Toys would attempt a run of Family Guy figures with interactive elements. Similar to the World of Springfield Simpsons line, the Family Guy's "Crazy Interactive World" figures would have figures saying different phrases when metal connects to a diorama.What should have been a home run was instead on clearance. Series 1 was the only series released, and the diorama with Lois is all that would be made as far as playsets.

Lara Croft Tomb Raider by Playmates had 2 independent lines released in 1998-1999, and again in 2001. The 1998-1999 line had a 8-10" Figure series based on scenes from the video game. These figures were paired with accessory antagonists like a dog, tiger or shark.Lara Croft saw another figure line manufactured around the release of the Angelina Jolie Tomb Raider franchise. This line, like most film franchises, had 1 basic series of 6" scale figures and a couple larger 10" figures. Finally featured in this line and on the back of the carding, was the Lara Croft & S.I.M.O.N. 2 Pack.
Before Playmates Toys, Toy Biz created their own Lara Croft Figures in their Video Game Superstars Line (1997). After Playmates, companies like SOTA and NECA took the license.

In what ended up being one of the most complete Looney Tunes figure lines to date, Space Jam (1996) by Playmates are one of the most sought after cartoon figure series with 27 different characters produced. Space Jam figures featured a mix of NBA players from the film, Looney Tunes cartoons characters in their TuneSquad outfits, and Monstars, their court enemies. While this line has a near-complete line up of the film's cast, noticeably absent are Shawn Bradley, Mugsy Bogues, Larry Bird, Bill Murray, and Newman. Some of that is understandable, most kid collectors wouldn't know what to do with a Larry Bird in golfing attire or Bill Murray in an umbrella hat. Hello, Jerry.1996's Series 1 were released one month ahead of the films release in theaters that summer. Figures were sold as two-packs and were sold to retailers in cases of 18. A news article from December 4 1996 shows that Playmates had anticipated that its $50 million initial shipment of the Space Jam line was expected to sell out Christmas, with a second series coming in 1997. Series 1 was labeled the TuneSquad assortment. It included Michael Jordan packed Bugs Bunny, Slyvester, & Elmer Fudd and Charles Barkley with Wile E Coyote, and Swackhammer and Tweety. Original prototypes shown have Charles Barkley wearing the TuneSquad logo jersey instead of his released outfit.
Series 2 of Space Jam showed no noticable differences or changes in the packaging. It included Yosimite Sam with Bupkus, Lola Bunny & Bang, Daffy Duck & Pound, Marvin the Martian & Nawt, Taz and Blanko.
Series 3, released in 1997, featured Inter-Galactic All-Stars on most of the figures packaging. Included were Michael Jordan & Marvin the Martian (a re-release), Patrick Ewing & Pepe Le Pew (with bonus Bang Nerdluck), Michael Jordan & Taz, and Larry Johnson & Barnyard Dog, with the last being the most rare in 2018. Interesting figure fact, Mugsy Bogues is featured on packaging back of some play sets to be included with this series, and was set to be packaged with Foghorn Leghorn.
Playmates produced three different figure related boxed play sets. A box set of Michael Jordan was made with Jordan in golfing, basketball, and baseball outfits. Although it has the TuneSquad logo on the jersey, to this date it remains the only Michael Jordan figure in a baseball outfit. Marvin the Martian's Countdown Rock-o-Tron was a silver and red rocket-ship that could be opened up to play a basketball launcher game with the figures. Last but not least was the Moron Airship. Purchasing the Moron Airship was the only way to collect all 5 Nerdluck figures, as only two were released in the figure assortments.

The Simpsons (World of Springfield)
The Simpsons had been on the air for about 10 seasons with over one hundred characters introduced throughout the running of the show when the World of Springfield line made its debut from Playmates. America’s animated first-family had a toy line released by Mattel in 1990, and due to low sales, Mattel cancelled series 2. After a decade of no mass marketed toys on the shelves, Playmates Toys entered the picture.Up to that point, Playmates Toys was known to collectors as the long-running manufacturer of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Looking for another hit, Playmates acquired the license for The Simpsons at the end of 1999 and debuted figures for the first two series at Toy Fair 2000.
Unlike other toy lines based off TV shows, they wanted to create not only an assortment of figures but different parts of the iconic city of Springfield for the figures to interact with. By the end of its run, The Simpsons’ World of Springfield line encompassed over 200 different figures, hundreds of Simpsons inspired accessories, and nearly forty environments.

WWF Wrestling by Playmates Toys (1997) was a short run of manufactured toys offered to collectors in 1997. They released toys as Grudge Match 2 Packs, Stretchin', Ring Master caricature figures, and more. They ran on toy shelves with opposing WWF figures in Jakks Pacific Bone Crunching Action line. Jakks Pacific would stick with 5-6" figures, but Playmates would make figures and toys in different sizes.Playmates run with WWF figure license was short lived. Maybe it was because of slumping sales, but Playmates sold remaining inventory to Jakks Pacific, ending their WWF relationship early.

Shown at Toy Fair 1997, Bret Hart and Mankind were originally planned for Series 2 of the Heroes of Wrestling by Playmates Toys. Playmates would sell its inventory to Jakks, a working partner with WWF and series 2 wouldn't be produced.
